what would happen if obamacare is repealed

what would happen if obamacare is repealed

the right is overjoyed for anynumber of different reasons that under president trump obama careis likely to be destroyed, but there is one particularfinancial incentive towards that destruction that you may not befamiliar with, so we are going to focus on that in thisvideo today. that has to do with two taxes. they will presumably be askedwith the law affect only those with the making ã± making$200,000 or more. the break the aca repeal willbring to those taxpayers will

amount to a $346 billion - video buffering ã± making more than $200,000 peryear. let's break down what those twotaxes are, and why they were initially put into the billand what will happen when they get rid of them. the taxes in question are knownas, the medicare tax on higher income individuals, andthe net investment income tax. but again, it only applies tothe income that exceeds the

$200,000 threshold. the net investment income tax isa levy meant to complement the medicare payroll tax. it applies on investment incomesuch as capital gains, dividends and interest income for thosemaking, again, $200,000 or more. and it's not like, this couldtheoretically happen, it will be interesting won't it,no, people are aware of it. the former tax policy director ã± it was for a conservativethink tank ã± said, "to me

personally, that's the best partabout repealing obama care. because on the healthcare sideof it, you have this comp located replace the market ortwo after that, but on taxes it's all easy ã± it's alldessert." there you have it, there's theelection. he just ruined dessert for me. that was the whole point of thiselection, dessert. that's what the republicans havealways wanted ã± yummy tax break ã±

buffering ã± you're making a good living. you're not a billionaire, andif you live on the coast, those folks actually think theyare struggling. you know that's not true, butthat's how they feel, but it's okay, they are going to have atax increase to $467. and believe me, they are notgoing to feel it. -- happens to people making over$1 million. do you know how much they'regoing to save from these trump

tax cuts from just repealingobama care? on average, each one of them isgoing to save over $36,000. so what you did by electingdonald trump, is he gave every millionaire in the country$36,000 to put in their pockets, and now, all those 20 ã± 30million people are going to be uninsured, because they say, ohwe'll replace obama care, but in order to pay for that you neededthe ã± these taxes ã± you think they are going toincrease taxes later?

inconceivable, so they will haveno money to do any kind of healthcare plan. there's going to be no replacingof the health care plan, so whatever they replace it withwill be bare-bones. it won't be able to cover you atall, and so all of you ã± not every person in the country, ifyou are employed i get it, you have insurance through youremployment, etc. ã± but there's going to be literally tens ofmillions of people left uninsured, and for all of us,we're going to have much worse

insurance, and go back to thedays possibly of, you have a pre-existing condition, you're ahuman being, you once sprained her ankle, that's it,pre-existing condition, i don't cover you, you give me the moneyand i give you nothing in return. we're going to go back to thosedays so that every millionaire in the country for $36,000 intotheir pocket. congratulations on voting fordonald trump. and that is just a side effectof what they are getting

for the aca being taken away. we've already broken down thatfor those in the .1%, the actual tax cuts he's goingto pass will literally put millions of dollars into theirpockets. this is just a little bit ofdessert sprinkled on top. is going to drop. many of them will have to goback to using the emergency room for routine stuff, because theydon't have insurance, and for

those who are able to get it,they are going to ã± taken away. so, you know, at what point ã±you think this pushes us towards joining the rest of theindustrialized world and getting single-payer health care? i think this will push us to itcloser. i saw the video that eric wilderdid with the transporter at the $15 rally, fight for 15, and hesaid, the people who voted for trump, we know he's a con man ã±i mean, southerners don't like

him, he's a northern yankeejackass running his mouth from new york city, they didn't likehim, but he makes the point that, that's how desperate wewere for someone to give us something that we could grasponto. so maybe now, obviously, you andi, they are going to make life worse for americans. so, if we remembered whathappened after six years of george bush, people had enoughof it, and we had a black guy as our president, a democraticsenate and house, a filibuster

proof majority for a couplemonths there, and what do we do? we took that opportunity to donothing for people except pass a right wing healthcareplan. we didn't break up the banks, wedid have a revolution. you know, we had the reaganrevolution, the new deal, the antitrust, the civil war,it's time for another one, and hopefully this horriblegovernance of donald trump will wake people up to it, andhopefully we'll get rid of these corporate democrats, andthat's what it's going to take.

nancy pelosi already says thatshe doesn't think the democrats want a new direction. she's wrong, that's why i'murging people to start a third party, i'm trying to see ifbernie will do that, but i don't think that will happen. but i think trying to fix thedemocratic party is going to be a fools errand. i think it will be difficult, ithink starting a third party is infinitely more difficult cult.

remember ross perot? back in 1992, people were sickof this shit. now 40% of the country considersthemselves not affiliated with either party. but people think ross perot gavethe election to the democrats. he did. that is generally what can endup happening. he was incredibly successful, but he didn't come anywhere close to becoming president.

but we could have a realprogressive movement, and a real coalition government. anything is possible, i wouldlove for us to go back to like, the new deal or something likethat, but in the short term, this is going to correct thefinances of our country. we know how hard it is to everraise taxes in our country. god knows how many services willbe lost as the ripple effect of losing this tax revenue, andonce his tax revenue goes through ã± we've looked at thebush tax cuts, we've looked

at the 10 year estimates for thenumber of people that ended up dying as a result of that, increased deaths due to risk ã± production of services andthings like that, and it literally led to, thousands ofpeople lost their life. so i guess we can and shouldlook forward to what's possible a long time from now,but people will literally die from the results of thesechanges, and they will not benefit from any hypotheticalawesome future, unfortunately. people are saying that statesshould lead the way to

single-payer health care, theydid it in color ã± they try to do in colorado. we are not to dissolve thethird-party debate right now. i think we're close. because the calvary has not yetarrived. they are at sending rock. on the first person to say that. and we are going to test jimmy'stheories out, because your theory was, under trump is goingto get so bad that we are going

to need strong democrats orprogressive ã± submitting and surrendering totrump, and they are not going to do any better for years fromnow, but jimmy i hope you are right, because it's going to getreal bad. they are stripping the wholething down. it's like somebody left a car inthe wrong part of town, and they come back and it's oncinderblocks, and they've taken everything valuable out of thecar. that's what they are going to dowith the country.

that's what they did in turkey. they are going to loot it. and the looting has begun, andthis is part of the looting. we have the head of the centeron policy saying that this plan of donald trump sees at the oddsã± seems at odds with the narrative of what this electionwas entirely about. so yes, half the trumpsupporters don't care about any of this. they are like, look, as long asyou hate the same people i

hate, i don't care. you want to take it from mypocket? what do i care? just so long as i get to feelgood about hating the right people. but half of trump supportersreally believe the stuff he was saying. a lot of you think, no theydidn't really believe him, did they?

some of them did, and when theycome to find out, oops, now i don't have healthcare, my kidsdon't have healthcare, why? because every millionaire had toget $36,000 under donald trump. he told me he was againstgoldman sachs, and he filled his cabinet full of guys fromgoldman sachs. and when that happens, peopleare going to wake up and say, we've been had. well, there better be strongprogressives to give people the opposite message, and givepeople hope for what can be done

right, and how the system is ã±you were right ã± the system is fixed against you, but let's gofix the people who rigged the system, the powerful, not thepowerless. and we will fight back againstthe people who rigged the system, and i believe in thelong run that we will win.

what will happen if obamacare is repealed

what will happen if obamacare is repealed

they say that pride comes before a fall, butin the case of the modern-day republican party, it isn't necessarily pride, it's more greed. see, right now republicans do have the votesin both the house and the senate to repeal certain parts of obamacare. they have laid out that plan. they're going to use the byrd rule to tieit into funding bills, reconciliation, all that mumbo jumbo that they're talking about. here's where they got greedy. they new they could do that, so they've decided,"you know what?

let's go a step further. let's not just repeal tax subsidies for obamacare, let's go ahead and defund all of planned parenthood." that's what paul ryan has decided to includein this repeal of obamacare in this reconciliation bill that they're currently drafting, is acomplete defunding of planned parenthood. this is just another extension of the gopslong waging war on women, because that's what this is about. ninety-seven percent of planned parenthoodservices are just for health services for women who do not either have other forms ofhealth insurance or cannot afford to go to other doctors.

this is healthcare for low income women throughoutthe united states. less than 3%, that other 3%, goes for pregnancytermination services, things like that. republicans, in their minds, think that 100%of planned parenthood's activities are just abortions. it's just some abortion multiplex that wehave to shut down. nothing could be further from the truth. they just don't want women, low income women,to have any kind of healthcare in this country. that's why they're getting rid of obamacare. that's why they're getting rid of plannedparenthood.

here's the thing that paul ryan and his houserepublicans and senate republicans don't quite understand. they had the votes to repeal obamacare aspart of the reconciliation package. they do not have the votes if they includeplanned parenthood. you lose lisa makowski and susan collins, two female republican senators who do not support the defunding of planned parenthood. now, it's true that in the past, lisa makowskivoted for defunding planned parenthood as part of a repeal obamacare package. that package went to president obama, he promptlyvetoed it.

republicans knew that he was going to do that. see, at the time it was a way for makowskito play both sides. she could go back to her constituents andsay, "yes. look. i voted. i voted with the republicans to defund, uh,planned parenthood, and, and, repeal obamacare, so reelect me." she doesn't have that cushion anymore. she knew it wouldn't pass.

now, she knows it will pass if she goes alongwith it, so she's much more hesitant to do so. same thing with susan collins. again, this all comes down to republican arroganceand greed. it's the story of icarus. these republicans are flying to close to thesun, and they're falling back to earth dramatically. this is after four days. four days ago they came up with a plan torepeal obamacare, that hey, actually kind of worked for them.

would have been horrible for the country, but it worked for republicans. within four days they got so damned greedythat they screwed their entire plan. the plan they have been working on for eightyears, and it's all because of republican greed and stupidity.

what republicans voted for obamacare

what republicans voted for obamacare

today house republicans passedlegislation to continue funding of the government while also defunding obamacare i don'tthink most people are gonna be surprised by this we'vebeen leading up to this all week but it happened here the results thevote was $2.32 189 almost down the lineup voting alongparty lines there was one democrat a mic micmcintyre cambodia fourth scott matheson i thinkjim's imagine that that's correct %uh scott

raichel was the only republican whovoted against that that bill and so they were able to do it johnbainer is feeling fairly transferred on match at this point after all thepressure is put on him to i i'm just saying and so we have himtalking about it now he sent it off to the senate this is what he said and all while we are victory today forthe american people record but also had a very victory forcommon sense yeah was senator baucus center-rightseveral months ago when he said that this

law is a train wreck it's time for us tosay no it's time to stop this before itcauses any more damage to american families anamerican businesses and so our message to the united statessenators real simple the american people don't want thegovernment shutdown and they don't want obamacare yeah the house is listen to to theamerican people now it's time for the united statessenate to listen to them as well yeah but i looked at his his statementhe kept referencing how they're just

doing what the american people wantthey've been saying that in town halls across the country now formonths but of course let's go back to 2012 and just look at the actual numbers democratic congressional candidatesreceived $53 million 950 to 1000 votes republicans rc 53million four hundred and two thousand votes but thanks to the power gerrymanderingthe republicans have a sizable lead in congress that they did not earned by getting morevotes from the american people

now stop for historical purposes weshould mention the point that's the house home by the way the democrats have thesenate fairly comfortably and oh by the way they have the whitehouse and oh by the way the comfortably passed the health care billwhich was incredibly hard to pass the senate and the house and so which american people are youreferring to it appears the american people throughtheir representatives already passed this bill already fundedthis bill

and i hear you cum johnny-come-latelysaying the you represent the american people when under no definition you representamerican p42 percent of americans on the pew research for a few others numbershandy but forty-two percent are in favor the want to see the bill implemented 27percent a year sixty-nine percent don't really like thebill but while congress to get it and implemented and fix it make it right that 69 percent that seven at ten peoplenearly seven at 10 who are either now really like it butlet's go past

and 42 percent and a boser like yeah so it's just warship well i don't knowif you know this though to be fair in another number was the number peoplewho say yes the funny is the right strategy that was six-percent american peoplesucceed american metal american yeah i do have my republicans i did muchbetter it was seven-percent yeah among republicans in the country onlyseven percent are in favor dis insanely fun strategy but the republicans just passed and theso-called how so

represented 80 million people a6-percent the country okay as a lot of american people that's rightand that $292 million disagree i yet so i 182 million idiot we have a with an interesting littlefact i so that the entire the purpose behind what the republicans havebeen doing is met this is our last chance to get ready for now like if it involves possibly saying on agovernment willing to do that we're ready find it but ironically according to a reportthis is for months ago i had nowhere but

at the time even if they def to fund it they shutdown the government whatever the government is shut downthat's not going to stop it from happening with a call from thecongressional research service it says it appears that substantial a caimplementation my continued during a lapse in annual appropriations thatresulted in temporary government shutdown itseems likely that the administration will continue to rely on alternativesources of funding to support a ca implementationactivities so even if the government no

longer was receiving funding forcongress they have other ways of getting the money to continue it yeah the congressional research service needsto hire funny writers yeah super sensitive to that yeah i tried so these republicans a have aretriumphant as john said bennett bainer seems so proudly we did and this was a victory for commonsense but it was a pictured a guess againstthe four separate but said 0 campbell is a logic to that mean

yeah common sense dictates that wouldyou go to the senate and democrats control the senate you will not win their and matt alsoindicates that and by the way the president has a vetoand he clearly will not be till o'bama care believe is the name you knowyes obama put the republicans obviously want thisrelease that the crazy i republicans in congress now they have lost significantportions a some rational republican senatorsunderstanding that simply baby they've done the arithmetic they know that theycame to pass

even some conservatives in the media arenot on board with this over riley was discussing this and hedoesn't think it's a good idea either fanaticism on the right also harm in thecountry responsible lawmakers have to find a wayto deal with their opponents in congress there's no wayobama cares got so basically it's not gonna happen and i don't exactly know where we'resupposed to go from here know i've i i understand that the democratsprobably will be able to get enough republicans on board

to shoot this down i imagine that i getany with a 50 they have to get a few well gothere that a decision has not been made yet on whether in a filibuster not so all this tough talk from ted cruz andhe has the mercedes it'll buster now now finally retire bythe standing filibuster but it wasn't clear until very very recently so this i find it amazing woman if youmake this kinda stand you gotta fill the official even knowthat yes i do that your king has been attacking chris for

a few days now i he continues to do sospeaking with wolf blitzer i wouldn't say anything good comes fromall this when when ted cruz imran paula might we fail in the senate next week maybe finally we republicans or intotheir influence its we is how people view should stopletting ted cruz sent over gender force he should stay in the senate should keepquiet and pick and deliver on this fine if you can't that you keep quiet for nowwhat so i yeah i mean that that is weighing the the peter kingwing of the republican party which john bainer that's the party he knows how toleave yeah i don't know how to lead that

branch and now that crazy branch is actuallycoming around but only because they're so furiousabout that cruise for betraying them because they were foolish enough tobelieve them in the first place because they haven't spent at in seconds figuring out the americangovernment just to give you an idea of the i guess the the philosophicalideological importance that some republicans are putting onthis battle which seems like

a complete waste of their effort thatthey've been organizing a writer for months now %uh representative said you know whospot upon the show before is like starting to draw historicalreferences and implying that this is important some other the biggest the most important civilrights struggles over time he says it only takes one with passiontalking about what they'll need to do this a look at rosa parks leakwell its up i martin luther king people with passionthat speak up philip people follow them

because they believe the same way and smart leadership listens to thatthis is not at that level like how deluded can you be able to try toall sources of with the sources say that stereo all people but with the civil rightswhen he is the most recent congressperson the most recent electedofficial to bring up birtherism he has said asrecently as all this time this year that if the president is not we should reexamine its cuz hewasn't born here

than none at his legislation is bindingso we can just get rid of all that he's also the person who said that that a tax on tanning beds in theaffordable care act is racist against whites but here is heneeds the passion arose up our cross apart by the way said 11 words her whole life so you're not apassion yeah it's your life lesser spoke for themajority though polish people if they were you know being subjugated either youknow the you ok with the soviet union in

iran curtain i am i don't not sure your host it's for the majority of the americanpeople as he stands up against obamacare which was passed by the representatives up the majority ofthe american people

what legislation does the care act replace

what legislation does the care act replace

new republican-led u.s. congress lays groundworkfor trump era the republican-led u.s. congress begins anew session on tuesday where it will start laying plans for enacting president-electdonald trump's agenda of tax cuts, repeal of obamacare and the rollback of financialand environmental regulations. with trump set to be sworn in as presidenton jan. 20, republican lawmakers hope to get a quick start on priorities that were blockedduring democratic president barack obama's eight years in the white house. since his election on nov. 8, the republicanpresident-elect has made clear he wants to move swiftly to enact proposals he outlinedduring the campaign such as simplifying the

tax code, slashing corporate tax rates andrepealing and replacing obama’s signature health insurance program known as obamacare. republicans have long sought to dismantleobamacare, insisting it was unworkable and hampered job growth. but they face a dilemma over how to providehealth insurance for the 13.8 million people enrolled in obamacare who could lose theircoverage. the law aims to provide health insurance toeconomically disadvantaged people and expand coverage for others. last month senate majority leader mitch mcconnell,a republican, said that before the election,

he assumed democrats would take back controlof the senate and hold on to the white house, ending any talk of repealing obamacare. "i didn't think ... trump had a chance ofwinning," mcconnell said in a dec. 19 interview with kentucky educational television. the opposite occurred and now republicansfind they have to deliver on their campaign promise, even though they have not agreedon a replacement healthcare program. trump kept up his attack on the law on tuesday, tweeting: "people must remember that obamacare just doesn't work, and it is not affordable,"and adding, "it is lousy healthcare." the first meeting of the 115th congress willbe full of ceremony, as the 435 members of

the house of representatives and a third ofthe 100-member senate are sworn in. amid the celebration will be a move by houserepublicans to clear the decks for obamacare repeal. that will come in the form of a vote on rulesgoverning house procedures in the two-year term of the chamber. tucked into the rules package is a move toprevent democrats from slowing or stopping obamacare repeal legislation because of thepotential cost to the u.s. treasury of doing so. leading democrats warned on monday of a fiercebattle over obamacare.

"we're going to fight as hard as ever to protectthe aca (affordable care act)," said representative steny hoyer, the house's second-ranking democrat. speaking to reporters, hoyer and house democraticleader nancy pelosi said they would launch an effort to mobilize grassroots support forobamacare by explaining how repeal would create a ripple effect hurting a majority of americans. obama is scheduled to meet on wednesday withcongressional democrats to discuss strategies for fending off the republican attacks onobamacare. cabinet, supreme court nominations the senate will kick off hearings on trump'schoices to head his cabinet departments and

other top jobs in the new administration. it is also expected to receive a supreme courtnomination from trump early in his term to replace conservative justice antonin scalia, who died last february. republicans refused to consider obama's nominationof merrick garland last year. prominent republican senator john mccain haswarned that rex tillerson, trump's choice for secretary of state, will have to explainhis relations with russian president vladimir putin, whom mccain has called a "thug anda murderer." tillerson, who spent much of his career atexxon mobil corp (xom.n), has been involved in business dealings in russia and opposedu.s. sanctions against moscow for its incursion

into crimea. while mcconnell repeatedly called for removingobamacare "root and branch," he said in the kentucky television interview that his toppriorities for the new congress were dealing with the "massive overregulation" he saidhad been a brake on the u.s. economy and accomplishing tax code changes to stop companies from movingjobs offshore. republican lawmakers also want to curtailor block regulations aimed at controlling industrial emissions that contribute to climatechange, and roll back banking industry reforms enacted after the near-collapse of wall streetin 2008. republicans might use upcoming spending billsfunding government agencies to try to kill

some of those regulations. trump is also expected to try to use his executivepowers toward that end. republicans will hold a slightly smaller majorityin both the senate and house than they enjoyed the past two years. that means democrats will still have bargainingpower, especially on issues that divide republicans, such as spending priorities.

what is the obama care

what is the obama care

well, it's finally happening. after yearsof drama on capitol hill, a supreme court case, a presidential election, and a mayanapocalypse that could have stopped it dead in its tracks — but didn't — the marqueeelements of the affordable care act, sometimes called obamacare, are about to kick in. andbig changes are coming to health insurance in 2014 (twenty-fourteen).in the next five minutes you'll get a pretty good lay of the land by once again watchingyour fellow americans, the youtoons, find their way through the system.there are four main ways nearly all of us will experience health care once the healthreform law goes fully into effect. about half of us will get insurance through our jobs, just like today. about one-third will get

covered by the government through medicareand medicaid. around one in ten will buy insurance ourselves. and unfortunately another thirtymillion of us or so, just under one in ten, still may not have coverage at all.let's begin in the workplace. many americans are already covered by their employers, andfor them not a whole lot will change. there will be some new advantages though — likecaps on how much you have to pay out of pocket, and free preventive care.the bigger changes are coming for those who work for larger companies but aren't coverednow. that's because the government will require companies with fifty or more employees tocover full-time workers — or pay a penalty — so more workers may find themselves covered.smaller employers won't face the same penalties

for refusing to buy insurance but they'llbe encouraged to. the government will be setting up special marketplaces to make it easierfor small employers to take the plunge. some will be offered temporary tax breaks if theydo. and unlike now, insurers can't inflate prices if some employees are sick.so, many of us will be getting covered at work. a lot of us will be covered with helpfrom the government, just like today. not much will change for seniors on medicare — thelaw has already started helping with prescription drugs and better preventive care, and thatwill continue. medicaid, on the other hand, is expandingto cover more of us, especially poor adults, many of whom aren't eligible today. if yourincome is low, medicaid will cover you, most

likely in a private insurance plan. but there'sa catch. the supreme court ruled that governors and legislatures of each state should decidewhether or not to be part of expanding medicaid. in states that get on board the feds willcover almost all of the cost. for those that don't, you may be left with the same optionsyou have today if you're poor. you'll want to check out your state's decision if youthink you might qualify for medicaid. even with employer coverage and the expansionin medicaid, a lot of us will still be left out. for those not covered, or who find theirwork coverage too expensive, a new way to buy insurance on our own will be popping upeverywhere. they're called health insurance marketplaces, though they may have a fanciername than that in your state.

the health insurance marketplace is like avirtual insurance mega-mall. here you'll find private insurers competing for your business.you'll be able to pick how much coverage you want and how much you want to pay for it,from cheaper high deductible bronze plans to more expensive platinum plans.still, all plans will cover a comprehensive set of services like hospital and doctor visits, maternity care, mental health care, and drugs -- most everything any of us need, at leastwhen it comes to medical care. as with medicaid, not all governors are onboard to set up these marketplaces. but the feds will open their own in those states,so you probably won't notice much of a difference. one big advantage of buying insurance throughthese new marketplaces is that the federal

government will provide most people with atax credit to make insurance more affordable if you don't have any other options and yourincome is below a certain level. in fact, most people buying on their own willbe eligible for a credit and won't have to pay the whole premium themselves. and themarketplaces will make sure insurance companies operate fairly under strict rules. they'llhave to offer everyone insurance even if they're sick. and they won't be able to charge morefor pre-existing conditions. unlike today, men and women will pay the sameprice. and prices for older people will come down, while young people will pay more. tokeep costs down for young people, they'll be able to stay on their parents' plans 'tilltwenty-six and buy low-budget "catastrophic"

plans 'till they're thirty.of course all these changes still don't mean insurance will be cheap. most people buyingtheir own coverage will end up paying less with the new health insurance tax credits.but some people will have to pay more, even though many of them will be getting betterand more secure insurance. and let's be realistic. not everyone's goingto run out and buy insurance. some might say, "hold on a minute! if i can't be turned downor charged more, why not just wait until i get sick or injured to buy insurance at all?"well, first, you can only get coverage during special enrollment periods, so if you snoozeyou may lose. and second, thanks to something called the individual mandate, if you're notinsured you pay a fine, making this option

seem not nearly so clever. still, if you reallycan't afford to buy in, and can't get insurance anywhere else, the government will waive thepenalty. so don't panic. by now you've probably noticed a lot morepeople will be getting a lot more coverage. where will the money to pay for that comefrom? taxes — many of them targeted at the health industry itself, and even tanning services.yes, individuals will pay too, mostly the wealthiest americans who will be paying moreinto medicare. also, hospitals and insurance companies participating in medicare will getpaid somewhat less. not painless, but somebody's gotta pay.so as america prepares for twenty-fourteen, how will you be covered? how would you liketo be? now's the time to figure it out — and

get on the path to setting yourself up forthe best insurance at the best price... because who wouldn't want that?

what is the obama care plan

what is the obama care plan

healthcare reform, obamacare, does three majorthings for you if you're uninsured or buy your own health insurance because you don'tget it from an employer. first, it changes what types of health insuranceproducts you can by. second, it changes how you buy those products. and third, it changeswhen you can buy those products. how does obamacare change what you buy? ifthe plan you have today or buy in 2013 does not meet new government standards, you mayhave to purchase new insurance to avoid tax penalties. with obamacare any new plan youbuy in 2014 will cover a minimum of 10 standard essential benefits. things like maternitycare and prescription drug coverage are standard. and obamacare creates a minimum benefit levelfor every plan. so in 2014 a new metallic

rating system will make it easier to tellwhat level of coverage you're buying. all metallic plans must cover at least 60% oftotal average estimated costs for the plan's benefit package.bronze plans cover 60%, while platinum plans cover 90%. catastrophic plans for people underthe age of 30 may have lower benefit levels. how does obamacare change how you buy healthinsurance? with obamacare your medical history can't be used to decline your applicationor charge you more for your health insurance. no more complicated questions about your medicalhistory while you wait, sometimes weeks, to see if your application was approved.you may be able to get help from the government to pay for your plan in the form of premiumtax credits or subsidies. and new state exchanges

or market places like e-health insurance willopen up to provide additional places for people to shop for coverage.how does obamacare change when you can buy health insurance? in most states there willbe one open enrollment period per year when people who want health insurance are guaranteedto have their application approved. it may hard to get approved for coverage outsideof the open enrollment period if you don't have a qualifying event such as the loss ofa job, the birth of a child, a marriage or move to a new coverage area.if you miss open enrollment and go uninsured for more than three months in a row, obamacarecan impose a tax penalty on you starting in 2014.
